Irene McCalphin aka Magnoliah Black

Irene McCalphin aka Magnoliah Black blends modern movement and words with neo-burlesque to create socially conscious art pieces that add voice to marginalized communities and celebrates the human body.  She has danced on stages throughout the country with the award winning and internationally traveled troupe Rubenesque Burlesque from 2009 to 2015.  As a solo performer her work continues to reflect body positivity, visibility through vulnerability and self-possession beyond the static sizest and often racist beauty myth. As a published author, producer, public speaker and performance artist Irene draws attention to the ever evolving intersections of fat, feminism, kink, spirituality and human sexuality with the intent to facilitate radical acceptance and inclusion. Co-founder and member of Cuntastrophe, co-founder and healer at A Sovereign Embodiment, Irene works to maintain/create safe, powerful spaces for all bodies and their stories to be seen, heard and valued.  Find her on Facebook or follow her badly managed blog http://misadventuresofanungratefulfatbitch.com
